Footballl Clubs Performances and Coaches Sacking, Gary Neville, Remi Garde #Essay

The expectations these days are very high for football managers to perform  at the highest degree. Fans have their expectations which you have to live up to.

Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville has been sacked by Valencia after less than four months in charge of the Spanish club. Earlier this week, Remi Garde was also relieved of his duties as the Aston Villa after a dismal run of just one win in over 15 matches with the threat of Aston Villa headed to Championship Football next season.

Gary Neville, who is part of the England coaching set-up, took the charges at Valencia in December 2015, after Nuno Espirito Santo decided to step down from the position and combined the role alongside his duties as England coach.

This was Gary Neville’s first full time managerial stint at a football club, and went as far as learning Spanish to be able to carry out his role well.

Valencia won three of their 16 league games under the former  Sky Sports television pundit, and 10 of 28 games overall.

Neville first faced calls to quit after a 7-0 loss to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg in February.

His last match in charge was a 2-0 home defeat by Celta Vigo just before the international break. Neville has largely enjoyed the support of Valencia fans since his appointment and even as results failed to pick up they tended to blame players and directors rather than the rookie English coach. But the ‘Gary go now’ chants could be heard in the last defeat before the break for internationals.

He has spent the past six days with the England squad for friendly games with Germany and the Netherlands.

Neville’s younger brother Phil Neville is part of the Valencia coaching team, and the club are yet to make an announcement about his position.

Former Liverpool assistant manager Pako Ayestaran, 53, who was assistant coach of Valencia from 2001 to 2004 under Rafa Benitez, will take charge for the rest of the season.

Six-time Spanish champions Valencia are 14th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone with eight games remaining.

On Saturday they face Las Palmas, who are one place below them, and meet four of the top six – including both Barcelona and Real Madrid – before the end of the season.

Sacking of football managers has become a norm these days with Real Madrid parting ways with Rafael Benitez and appointing Zinadine Zidane as care taker manager, Chelsea sacked Jose Mourinho, The Special One, The Happy One, and replaced him with Guus Hiddink.
